Be smart on the web

Clear Vision is very careful to protect the identities of children using this site, so that strangers cannot find or contact you.

When you submit content to the forum:

  • We never give your actual name, just the user name which you supply and your age
  • We never ask for your address, just give the country you are from

When you register a user name and email for our forum:

  • We only ask for a user name (which will be displayed publicly) and an email address (which we do not display)
  • We do not allow children to leave their email addresses on the forum
  • We look at messages posted on the boards carefully, to make sure that children are not swapping personal information that could be unsafe

Smart guidelines

Childnet International have put together five SMART rules for staying safe online:

  • SAFE - Staying safe involves being careful and not giving out your name, address, mobile phone no., school name or password to people online.
  • MEETING someone you have contacted in cyberspace can be dangerous. Only do so with your parent's/carer's permission, and then when they can be present.
  • ACCEPTING e-mails or opening files from people you don't really know or trust can get you into trouble - they may contain viruses or nasty messages.
  • RELIABLE - Someone online maybe lying about who they are, and information you find on the internet may not be reliable.
  • TELL your parent or carer if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried.
