Instructions:

Preparation:
2 possible versions, for playing on OHP with a whole class, or on cards with smaller groups.

Photocopy this document with domino themes either onto an OHP slide or onto card, and cut along the lines.

Playing:
Either distribute all the dominoes between the players (or groups) or give out a few to each for a shorter game.
Following the rules of dominoes, each player/group in turn places a domino in connection to the previous ones.

Whenever a connection is made the player needs to explain what the relationship is between the two terms. e.g. Arhat & Enlightenment: “An arhat is a person who has reached Enlightenment following the teaching of a Buddha”. Relationships can also be ones of contrast, and much ingenuity can be exercised in linking obscurely different ones.

Scoring:
The game can be played co-operatively for fun, or, if a competitive edge is required, can be scored. If played by a small group without a teacher, an independent referee will probably then be needed. Score 1 point for a vaguely correct link between two terms, and 2 points for a precise one.
